It was a 'pre-war' stage the 3 nights before CNY at work.. the flood was never resolved with everyday's number at 500plus!! everynight i tot to myself whether the 3days off is worth the battle or not.. haha.. anyways, with my almost zero energy level and immunity, plus a half-day sleep, i had to prepare for the 'big occasion'.. so the 3days was all having fun, party party party... then i was back to work.. first day back at work, the last number was horrifying 637!!! I tot it could almost enter the Guinness World Records!! haha.. so the whole CNY week was like Children's Madhouse Department instead of Children's Emergency Department.. COULD ALL THE KIASU KIASI PARENTS OUT THERE UNDERSTAND FOR ONE TIME THE MEANING OF EMERGENCY??!!!
I was alone this Valentine's Day. No chocolates, no roses, no nothing. I spent the day at work.. Haa.. Oh ya, I had to do mock code on Valentines' day.. thank you sister indra.. *angry* and i was not feeling well on that day (i was surprised my body could tolerate the physical and mental stress so well.. was expecting myself to fall sick much earlier).. stuffed up nose, coughing like as thou i have croup, and breathless after every sentense i say.. but lucky i was nurse 3 so not tt much of problem.. then while setting plug for a paracet DO child, Dr K heard me sniffing n coughing throughout so he decided to auscultate my lungs after tt.. So i was having prolonged expiratory phase, hense the breathlessness(he tot i was asthmatic, haha).. I ended up having to use the ventolin puff again.. Later at night my fever spiked up i tot i was burning! haha.. ok, i'm a nurse i shldn't be saying this.. :P
Next morning was mock code again.. My last mock code! Thats the reason I dragged myself to work despite the URTI and my fever not coming down.. :( But i asked sister for permission to leave after the mock code cos i was really not well.. Ok, nurse 2 this time and the code master was Dr Ang!! Trauma code.. not so bad afterall.. but due to the fever i couldn't think well, so was abit late to diagnose shock.. but i still did anyways.. haha.. Dr Ang said I knew my stuff but she dun understand y I looked abit scared when i diagnosed the shock... So sister Tor said cos i wasn't feeling well.. :) Just one point i was quite guilty of.. I wanted to use midazolam for RSI at first when the child was hypotensive.. Then Dr Ang hinted 'Are u sure?'.. Then i said, 'Eh.. no no..' haha.. then changed to etomidate instead.. but she was ok for tt la.. din comment abt it during the debrief.. haha.. was quite ok jus tt it'll be better if i wasn't sick... :) I PASSED ALL 6 MOCK CODES!!!! YAY!!
Went to see doctor jus to get MC after tt.. At the clinic the doc asked whether i saw a doc before already and i said yes, i saw my A&E doc.. but my nose was sooo choked up he heard 'AIA doc'.. den he asked "now u selling insurance ah?" i was like "huh?" haha.. so he gave 2 days MC plus my rest day so its total 3days off!! Finally got some decent rest! :)
